It gives me immense pleasure to invite you to KIIT International School Model United Nations Conference to be held 9th - 11th August 2019. This year’s edition holds a special significance for our institution has we shift the focus of the conference to achievement of Sustainable Development Goals and recognise the role youth and civil society can play in tackling critical global issues such as Climate Change, terrorism, need for a new education policy and most importantly reconstruction and development post the cyclone Fani which affected our fellow citizens in Odisha.
It is my sincere hope that we can make a shift from merely representing the opinions of various nations in a role play method to problem solving and capacity building with youth to solve these challenges which humanity is faced with.
This effort will remain incomplete and ineffective if we view the conference as a forum for competition or winning awards. I hope that we can host all stakeholders, institutions and educators besides all the delegates to find concrete action steps towards meeting our priority goals through this conference.
Finally it is my privilege to invite you to join us at the Kalinga SDG Lab, instituted in partnership with The Dais and International Centre for Sustainable Development to carry on our endeavours in achievement of Sustainable Development Goals for the years to come.
I look forward to meeting you all in person at the conference and getting to know your ideas and thoughts as young change makers and to collaborate with you all for a better future of our planet.
